Statkraft Varme needs to increase its supply of thermal energy to its district heating system in Trondheim. Statkraft is supplying thermal energy for the area but neither the peak load capacity nor the base load capacity is sufficient. Therefore, Statkraft plans to build a new heating plant in the eastern part of Trondheim and to produce electricity as well.
The plant will consist of three lines: one 25 MW gas fired unit, one 25 MW pulverized wood fired unit and one line of a 50 - 80 MW bio fuel furnace and a 20 MW steam turbine (not decided). ÅF’s scope of work includes assistance with the biomass CHP unit.
The assignment will be carried out by consultants from Finland and Sweden. Rickard Lundborg, manager Heat & Power, has coordinated the sales negotiations together with Peter Kling, ÅF’s vice president in Finland. The project, which will be finalized in 2015, will be managed by senior advisor Henrik Palmén.
This is the first significant assignment for ÅF within the energy field in Norway. The order is worth about 0,7 million euros in revenue.
