A great interest was shown for the ÅF Offshore Race. On ÅF's initiative the start was moved to central Stockholm for part of the competitors. A total of 280 yachts participated in the contest of which 25 went out of Stockholm. By moving the start to Stockholm ÅF makes the race more visible to a wider audience and create a greater interest in the sport - racing is about teamwork, technology and sustainability, as ÅF.
Environmental Seminar
Race Week in Stockholm was initiated with a seminar with the environment in the Baltic Sea in focus, organized by ÅF, KSSS, Zennström Philanthropies and Newsec. After Niklas Zennström and other keynote speakers, followed a panel discussion with representatives from the EU, the Ministry of Agriculture in Sweden, the World Wildlife Fund and Oceana, as well as representatives from the media, focusing on sustainability issues. ÅF had several key customers and partners in place. The sustainability issue is important for ÅF and here was the opportunity to appear and participate in a larger context - we want to help lead the development!
We look forward to the start of the ÅF Offshore Race on July 1, 2012 where the goal is that 350 yachts will start in Stockholm. This sponsorship strengthens ÅF's brand and increase awareness of ÅF as the leading technical consulting firm.
