Swedish National Grid, data management and project support/ Svenska Kraftnät

The Swedish National Grid manages and monitors the national electric grid to transmit electricity from major power stations to regional electrical grids. The assignment includes support to GIS Department in data management and data processing of the core geographic database, as well as GIS support to projects with data deliveries, map production and geographic analysis. In order to improve planning and design of new power lines as well as supporting operations and maintenance work, data from a multitude of energy companies operating the regional grids was imported to the core GIS database. The assignment including analyzing user needs to design a common geographic data model for regional grids, develop automated workflows for converting and transforming data from many different sources and loading the data into the geodatabase.
