ÅF Offshore Race takes place between June 30th and July 4th. The boats start in the very center of Stockholm, then sail all the way to Gotland, round the island, and back to Stockholm archipelago, Sandhamn. 225 boats in different groups are competing in the Baltic Sea with good wind in the sails.
The first group started at 11:00 AM June 30th and was followed by more groups every 10th minute until 12:30 PM, and the same procedure followed the day after. ÅF's CEO Jonas Wiström is competing in the race on his own Italien boat, Amarone, together with the world famous hockey player Peter Forsberg.
The race attracted many visitors to the center of Stockholm, were all the boats docked at the piers earlier during the week. More than 40.000 people came to see the boats, the start and the event this saturday, and even more on sunday.
This year was the first where every boat started in the center of the city, and Stockholm gave us great sunny weather and lots of wind to challange the sailors.
