Project management and design of the 900 MW Nant de Drance pumped storage facility in Switzerland
Description of project:
The Nant de Drance pumped storage facility (900 MW) was designed to exploit
part of the enormous hydroelectric potential of the Swiss Alps. The plant makes use of a difference in height of more than 350 metres between two existing reservoirs connected via a system of waterways. The powerhouse cavern is 52 m high, 32 m wide and 190 m long to house six 150 MW pump turbines.
Project period: 2005 – 2017.
