Meet goals by involving the employees
The IT unit of a global supplier of technology and services needed to formulate a new operational plan to improve its organization and leadership. In order to gain acceptance for the programme, the employees were involved in the process.
We created a programme that involved every level of the organization in the improvement initiative – sponsors and project teams, the executive management and all employees. Within the programme we performed a present situation analysis and interviewed managers and employees throughout the organization, as well as representatives for the customers and suppliers.
We formulated a vision, a desired situation and a Balanced Scorecard with goals and strategies to meet the objectives. The assignment also included holding a number of workshops with both the executive management and all employees where we revised and gained acceptance for the material. Parallel to this, work was also carried out to develop the executive management’s capabilities as a team and as leaders.
The result was a well-anchored operational plan with clearly defined goals, strategies and time-bound activity plans. After our efforts, the unit’s Operations Manager had full control over his activities and all employees knew what needed to be done and were given whole new opportunities to work together toward common goals.
